It is delightfully ingenious, and so long as the tools are small enough to clear the springloaded hex elements in the socket, it looks nifty. Even if a half turn were needed to help the tool drop out, the carousel/rotary_wrench would handle that with ease, I figure. Presumably the sockets are hollow at the back, so a long tool would fit? I'll have to have a look, next time at the hardware store. I had to read the comments in order to understand that "A short reverse spin of the spindle takes care of the rest." means 200 ms of spin to help the tool fall out. It is limited to one collet, but I suppose a heat-shrunk collar on small tools could boost them to go in a larger collet for a job set, mostly. The author's link to another, much more complex, toolchanger at the end of the comments, shows one which changes the collet and nut as well, avoiding the tool size constraint. But I'd want a retractable swarf cover on that one. Thanks for sharing. (I haven't dug that far back in hackaday) Erik ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Check out the vibrant tech community on one of the world's most engaging tech sites, Slashdot.org! http://sdm.link/slashdot _______________________________________________ Emc-users mailing list Emc-users@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/emc-users
