Its dependence on gtk-3.80, the last the the gtk2 stuffs results in dependency's that aren't satisfied even on wheezy. IMO gnome thru glade and its ilk under the bus on purpose, and gtk-3 has never grown a similar capability. They've had years to do it.
That explains why I'd like to take a walk thru tk's xwidgits and see if I can locally add what should have been done in the first place. I may fail, but I'll not know till I try.
