I just did some testing (latest master) and there is a message:

halcmd: setp halui.joint.0.unhome 1
halcmd: must be in joint mode or disabled to unhome

Pressing F2 then toggling the pins 0 to 1 has the anticipated effect.

But, there is probably a simpler way to achieve what you want.
Look at the INI option "VOLATILE_HOME"
