Soldering IDC seems to be missing the point?

You can use individual crimps in housings. I have used Harwin M20
series. They don't do a 13+13 but you can put them in side-by-side and
even glue them together.

(plus a 4x4 to fill the header)
You also need the terminals (gold plated)

I use my smallest W-crimper and that has always worked OK. The factory
tool is a bit too spendy.
