  Their effectiveness is decreased in a normal 50/50 antifreeze/water mix but

After changing the engine in my sister's 1995 Buick Century. I had the ECM chip 
reprogrammed to lower the fan ON temps by 15F, along with disabling the 112MPH 
limit and tweaking the fuel curves. Swapped the 195F thermostat for a 180F and 
it still wanted to run extra hot. A bottle of Water Wetter fixed that.
It overheated because the "smart" people at GM thought it was a good idea to 
run a 16 PSI system at 195F, the instant the radiator cap weakens, thar she blows, or 
it'll blow a head gasket. They also decided the piston to cylinder clearance had to be 
extra snug. So when that engine overheats the pistons leave aluminum on the cylinder 
walls, the piston skits bend inwards a bit too. That makes them clatter, which sets off 
the knock sensor. That makes the ECU futz with the timing and fuel in such a way that 
*makes it run even hotter*. For 1996 GM applied a special coating the the skirts of 
pistons 5 and 6, then for 1997+ all six got the coating. Just couldn't admit that running 
it so hot was wrong, along with other things they did to it, without going far enough to 
make it able to handle the higher pressure it needed tow work properly at 195F.

Anyway, the lower temp thermostat and ECU changes made it able to get out of 
it's own way and overall MPG improved a bit, likely due to less time being 
spent in accelerating up to speed since the engine could make more power and do 
it faster.

Okay.  I spent the afternoon putting a fresh bob in the G0704 kit,
then tried to bore 1/4" holes lengthwise thru 5.5" of 1/2" alu, with a
3" drill hog bit. That means I was drilling 3" deep from both ends

But beware, the lysol in a spray pump bottle from the grocery store is
not the stinky stuff we all remember from our childhood, its now a soap,
putting a head on the water and virtually odorless. I first put about 3
squirts in the mister bottle, and about 20 in the water tank.  It been
running at 4g's for about 8 hours  And its likely well north of the lcd
thermometers top of 40C. And if it doesn't do squat I won't be
surprised, it isn't the real stuff, nothing like the lysol I remember.
