Hi Andy,
I have a box of those connectors in a 6 wide and will get a box of 1 wide and two wide. My thoughts are when used outside in a marine environment to glop some 3M Scotchcoat on them. Of course that make them rather fixed but they are cheap. :-)

You can get glue-lined heat-shrink for a truly watertight joint.
