Greetings all;
I bought a boring head with a range up to 3". but currently need to bore
slightly over .750"
for this project.
But the head offsets in a kit of boring bars are such the a 1/2" wide
bar, while boring about the
size hole I need, is also leaving about 3/16" in the center as an uncut
post sticking up. So
I assume that proper orientation of the boring bar in the head might
assure its cleaning out the center.
Is there a rule of thumb about how to orient the bar vs the head sliders
motion to achieve that?
Or do I have a duff set of boring bars? I have observed that when placed
in a qc tool holder
for my lathe, that they have to be jacked up to get them "on center".
Cheers, Gene Heskett.
