Having been involved in PC board design, software etc for decades I'm not suggesting that it would be cheaper to make a MESA from scratch. Not only that I'd much rather buy from the developer. But I have a Delta Band Saw for wood from 1935. Runs great. Cuts wood. I have other tools that are also 30 year or more old. My South Bend Lathe is from 1945. The ways are worn but it still works. The trouble with electronics and computers is every week it's changing principally to "Enhance our User Experience". However if my LinuxCNC system works in 2020 I'd like the same system to still be working in 2040. And if it needs repair parts like new electrolytic capacitors in the power supply or the MESA board went up in smoke I don't want to spend months rebuilding the system with that "Enhanced User Experience". It's why I have more than one STMBL, more than one MESA 7i92H and even a second PC like the one running LinuxCNC. But if I did have to make a MESA card from scratch is all the information there. Not the PC board layout. I didn't release that for my Electronic Lead Screw; only schematics and software. But if someone wanted to (and so far no one has) to clone it they could.
