Does the new 2.9.8 pi clone image still support the creation of slower

Yes, though are you sure you need it?

If you want to be really safe, why not buy an RPi5 and put the image
in that with your existing config? It will work, but the Pi5 is a lot
faster than the 4.
It's about twice as fast. This won't matter for LinuxCNC, particular,
but the GUI response etc will be a lot snappier.
The bananapi-m5 is faster than the rpi4 and a bit cheaper. But I'd hate to have to throw away what .hal stuff I've written in case it doesn't work.

I'm also concerned with how to totally purge any avahi.daemon BS, which I'm having a hell of a time with on a new 3d printer using debian bullseye for arm64. But I've thrown that into sovol's lap who has really good aftermarket support. A BIG 500mm cube sovol thingy they call the sv08 MAX.

Trixie on arm64 may have the same problem for users using /etc/hosts file based local networks.  And I've been locked out of posting to the debian-user list since last June, for something that was absolutely none of their business.  I had replied to someone who was terminally proud of being vaxxed and mentioned that "I wasn't vaxxed and I was (then) 90 yo, connect the dots..."  Apparently that was a verboten subject.

Thanks Andy.

Cheers, Gene Heskett, CET.
