I've tried FreeCAD a few times
When did you last try it? It has got a lot better relatively recently.
And again:

Thats for a 2.6RC, looks usable, but when I goto the freecad.org site an click on the linux download, I get a jurrasic 1.1.4 version that is nothing like the youtube video.//I'm used to seeing the editable src code in the left pane, but did not succeed in finding such a display option.  The  engine block shown is far from finished, as is the back hoe arm. The display was dead stable, although noticeably slow on this N95 powered machine.  But w/o the ability to SEE (& assuming I could edit it) the src code that generated those images, I'm not interested in wasting any more time trying to figure out how to use it.  However a link to that RC version I might investigate. 1.1.4 sure isn't IT.

Thanks Andy

Gene
