The 40th issue of MEA Bulletin includes reports on the Beijing International Conference on Combating Desertification and the Asia Pacific Regional Conference on Environmental Justice and Enforcement. This issue contains two guest articles. * "Bridging the Climate-Change Media Divide on the Road to Copenhagen" describes the Climate Change Media Partnership's efforts to provide support to journalists from developing countries before, during and after the UN Climate Change Conference in Bali. It was authored by Mike Shanahan, International Institute for Environment and Development and the Climate Change Media Partnership. * "Improving MEA Compliance: The Role of National Audit Offices" describes the role that "Supreme Audit Institutions," such as chambers, tribunals or comptrollers, can play in evaluating whether the tools their governments use to manage and protect the environment have produced the intended results. It was authored by Vivien Lo, team member from the past Chair of INTOSAI's Working Group on Environmental Auditing, Office of the Auditor General of Canada.
