I need this patch to finish my project of integrating folder encryption into GNOME. However, it won't work on it's own. The patch causes the mount to happen when the folder is accessed. However, as soon as you create that on-demand mount, gvfs jumps in to setup trash, do autorun stuff etc. which triggers it to finish mounting. Without changing gvfs to account for this, it's probably not a good idea to accept that patch as it will never function correctly on a system using gvfs, which I believe is used not just on GNOME, but also (at a minimum) Unity and Xfce. (If you want to follow the work I'm doing, you can get updates from blog.sambull.org/t/gnome)
