Congratulations!

We are happy to be part of this mailing list!

We are from the Women's Legal Bureau, Inc., a feminist legal resource
non-government organization from the Philippines. We started operations in
1991, and have since addressed a wide range of women's issues, although our
efforts have been particularly focused on the fight to combat sexual
violence against women. Recently, we spearheaded a pioneering project aimed
at improving the legal management of rape cases in the country. The fruit
of this endeavor is the completion of a multi-disciplinary training manual
entitled "Addressing Rape in the Legal System," to be used by training
academies and institutes, law enforcers, medico-legal officers, prosecutors
and trial court judges.

On the judicial front, we represent the survivors of various forms of
gender-based violence against women before the courts and quasi-judicial
bodies, or refer these cases to the Legal Advocates for Women Network, or
LAWNet, which we formed a few years back.

We are also part of a larger women's organization known as SIBOL (Collective
Initiative of Women for the Transformation of Law and Society). With them,
we have been actively lobbying Congress for the passage of the
Anti-Anti-Abuse of Women in Intimate Relationships (Anti-AWIR) bill.

We welcome and eagerly anticipate sharing our experiences and exchanging
views and information on women's issues with you.
