Dear Members of End-violence,

Warmest wishes for a healthy, fulfilling 2002!

This week, we would like to continue our discussion of Violence Against
Women in Post-conflict Situations, which we began before the holidays.
Post-conflict societies face unique opportunities and challenges for those
wishing to end violence against women. They often struggle with a legacy of
intense violence, in which women were specific targets. Yet there is also a
chance to change old values and behaviors that were oppressive and abusive
to women.

Based on your knowledge and experience, what do you believe are 3-4
CRITICAL ACTIONS needed to reduce, eliminate, and manage the post-
conflict consequences of violence against women? Are there specific
programmes you recommend for post-conflict societies?

We would also like to suggest agenda topics for the coming weeks. Kindly
note that next week we would like to build on the topic you have begun:
Changing Male Behavior.

PROPOSED AGENDA

January 7 - 18, 2002: Changing Male Behaviour
January 21 - February 1, 2002: Sexual Assault
Post February 1 (to be finalised in response to members' suggestions):

* Economics
* Culture
* Politics and legal issues
* Community Action
* Youth
* Prevention
* Media and technology

We look forward to learning from you regarding specific actions that should
be taken, and supported, in post-conflict societies. We also welcome your
suggestions regarding the agenda for the coming months.

Warmest regards,

the Moderators
