LOOKING FOR ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES ON SEXUALITY
AND REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH
Warm greetings from the Philippines. I've been tracking down the fruitful
discussions on gender issues. It's nice to know that strong efforts to curb
gender oppression (particularly on women) has become global in scope.
We are a non-government organization and one of our programs is focused on
Maintreaming gender in Early Childhood Care and Development. We are working
with the ECCD caregivers (daycare workers) both in the government and
non-government organizations. Our approach is proactive in nature.
Inculcating gender-fair values during the formative years of a child is
crucial in changing his/her value system. As the old adage goes, "it's
hard to teach an old dog with new tricks", we believe that education and
training towards gender-fair society must start with children, who, in
turn, will become powerful advocates for gender equality in the future.
Gender, sexuality and reproductive health are interrelated with each other.
Each component has its own unique areas of concern but each concern cannot
be isolated from the other. Personally, I was able to undergo a short-term
course on Gender, Sexuality and Reproductive Health. After my studies, I've
become deeply interested to pursue my studies on Sexuality and Reproductive
Health. As of this time, I find this area more interesting.
I am writing you friends, with the hope that you can help me find a
university that has strong training on this area. I have no idea where to
pursue this study abroad. I hope you can help me in this process and I
would appreciate it very much if you can give me information about the
universities. It would be a great favor that you can extend. Thank you in
advance.
I am also wondering if there are studies conducted regarding the "sexuality
and reproductive health concerns and issues of the differently-abled people
(people with disabilities or handicap". I'd be glad to have some references
or reading materials on this.
Thank you very much for including us in the list of your correspondence. I
learned a lot from you. I would be proud to share your victories with our
partner organizations in one of our upcoming trainings.
Salamat (meaning, thank you).
