Hi Anu Kevin Raghu Sweetpie Oshiro Charles and all,

Sweetpie and Oshiro,I agree with your points that making or receiving
a phone call is(used to be for Oshiro!LOLGreat for you)the most
challenging.

You need to be spontaneous or quick at reacting to another speaker as
how to keep the conversations going smoothly or effectively before it
ends.

Due to very limited time to organize your thoughts, then put them in
words to make yourself understood by this other person,it's pretty
stressful if your English isn't that fluent!:(

In a meeting, you are not the one to initiate ideas or opinions unless
you chair the meeting,it's less stressful for me.

When giving a presentation to other non-English speakers,I feel least
confident as I need to clearly present my project to those whose
English may not be good enough to understand me,yet most certainly
will not be direct to give such feedback among other participants.

Then at the end of the presentation, what worries me is that I need to
answer questions which I am not sure if I have all the necessary facts
or data in hand to back my points up...
Questions from different nationalities can vary a lot!
How to remain professional and not to disappoint them is really
challenging for me.
At work,I prefer smooth operations and dislike surprises!LOL

Raghu, your answer is the most surprising for me!
You must be a very prudent person to worry about mistakes you make in
an e-mail can last forever!!!:(
I make so many blunders every day that I feel numb already!LOL

One acquaintance of mine said to me a few days ago that he felt most
confident while using his English in a report because it's not
specifically meant to be read by anyone since it didn't start as 'Dear
Mr.or Ms.X.'

Is there anyone who shares his point?:)

And Charles,I agree with you,too that I am most well at ease chatting
with children.
I can ask them to repeat the same words or expressions again and
again, yet they're more than willing to correct my mistakes.
I've learnt far more vocabulary and expressions from children than
from adults because I don't need to feel embarrassed whenever I say
something wrong.
That is they laugh with me at my mistakes whileas adults feel awkward
when they think I am awkward myself!LOL

Those who haven't taken part in any discussions:
Please don't be shy to let us know you're here, will you?

Have a nice day,everyone!
Claire
