I use PSPad mainly to edit HTML and PHP files online, i.e. directly on the server, using the FTP feature. Some of the (older) projects require the script and HTML files to be in ISO-8859-1 encoding, while most newer projects rely on UTF-8 encoding. To avoid having to check the encoding setting every time I switch between projects, I'd like to be able to set the default character encoding in the FTP settings dialog, so if I connect to "server 1", files from this server are treated as being UTF8-encoded, while "server 2" might have only ISO-8859-1 encoded files. Otherwise, PSPad is one of the greatest freeware text editors I've used so far! -- PSPad freeware editor http://www.pspad.com
