I just found PSPad and it's very nice to be able to edit utf-8 html with most characters displayed correctly. However default font (Courier New) has limited character set so some characters show as squares. But if I change to another font*, display becomes corrupted when syntax highlighting is turned on (View>Syntax), with characters getting oddly spaced or disappearing, and lines changing as I select them. Problem goes away if syntax highlighting is turned off. I assume there is a problem with syntax highlighter trying to position highlighted text using the wrong character widths. Although I am working with utf-8, changing to ANSI does not fix the problem. *The only fonts that display correctly are Courier New and Letter Gothic. Others, e.g MS Gothic, MS Mincho, Lucida Console, or even ordinary (non-Truetype) Courier, garble the display when syntax highlighting is on. version is 4.5.0 (2175) OS is Win98. -- PSPad freeware editor http://www.pspad.com
