I can confirm the original problem reported by the original poster. With PSPad installed and "Integrate with Right Mouse Click" checked under Program Settings -> System integration, Windows Installer files (.MSI) open in PSPad, not in Windows Installer. This problem still happens, even in the latest version of PSPad (as of this writing, that's 4.5.0 (2181), dated 2/12/2006. Right-clicking an .MSI file to get the context menu results in pretty much exactly what's described above from two years ago - with RMC integration, the item _PSPad_ is the default; without RMC integration, the item _Install_ is the default. All three registry settings for the opening commands for Install, Repair, and Uninstall are exactly, character for character, as described above. It is apparent to me that PSPad's method for integrating with the context menu is causing/triggering this problem somehow. This is a fairly serious issue and really should be fixed, because it makes it difficult for non-technical users to install software on their computers.
