I've seen it on two different, completely independent machines both running Windows 2000 SP4, if that helps. I don't have access to a machine running Windows XP so I can't test it there. I've also never seen any other program cause [u]unrelated[/u] file associations to fail (there is NO reason to associate .msi with PSPad). The net result to the user is that program installation no longer functions as expected as a direct result of PSPad's action. I don't agree at all that this is a "minor" problem or inconvenience. To the end user, the system is broken. Most folks here reading this forum are above-average users and have the background to understand what's really happening. In the real world, you probably won't ever have the chance to explain it as "oh, just go select Install from the Context menu when you want to install something" - the user has already given up and removed your software because it broke his system.
