I am a realtively new user of this great tool, I have used many text editors so far, but it is very close to something I would call a perfect text editor. However there are some things I could not find, or these are not available in the software. 1) In the Find/Replace dialog boxes it would be very useful to add a multiline Find/Replace option (without any RexExp things). (In EditPlus 2 it is done by a small button on the Find/Replace Window which replaces the edit line with a textbox that accepts multiline text). It would be also nice to be able to copy text from the file in which the Find/Replace is done (especially in case of Replace when it can be useful to copy the new text from the file). It is done in UltraEdit like if the Dialog Window was an independent thread. 2) What is really missing (and I use a lot) is the column (block) mode editing. This is something that has been done in UltraEdit in an excellent way. It makes possible not only copying blocks (like in PSPad), but writing/updating and deleting in the file on multiple lines at the same column position. I know that it is not a simple development to prepare this functionality (in UltraEdit it seems to be a separate mode / TextBox which supports this functionality), but it is extremely useful and this functionality has made UltraEdit the most sympatethic editor before seeing PSPad. 3) Highlighting on a right side sidebar the occurances of a selected expession in the file. (Like in case of Eclipse Java Editor.) This is a minor issue, but also useful and user friendly. -- PSPad freeware editor http://www.pspad.com
