Actually, the identity displayed at Tools | Account Settings | OpenPGP
Security is simply the fist identity of the account. If you go to
Tools | Account Settings | Manage Identities | identity | OpenPGP
Security, you'll see the same settings for your "first" identity.

When you write a message, you select the sender identity at the top of
the dialog. The settings of that identity are taken. Thus, there is no
conflict at all.
