Greetings,

I had a unexpected experience today when demonstrating how to generate
a new key using the key management tool.

Steps to reproduce:

prerequisites

 * Configure Thunderbird with multiple mail profiles
 * Configure multiple profiles with existing pgp keys

Generate a new pgp key with the key management tool:

1. Thunderbird -> OpenPGP  -> Key management
2. Generate -> New Key Pair
3. Ensure "Use generated key for the selected identity" is checked
4. Click "no passphrase"
5. Click "generate key"

At this point, it appears that "never ask for any passphrase" becomes
checked in the Basic tab of OpenPGP Preferences. For all profiles??

If you then try to send a signed/encrypted email with a pgp key that
has a password, you get an alert that says:

Send operation aborted
Error - bad passphrase

It took a couple of minutes to figure out that "never ask for any
passphrase" was now checked.

Is this the correct behavior when existing profiles/keys/etc exist?

Gabe
