I have today just installed the latest nightly build and tried out your
interface. I like the presentation and especially the substantial descriptions
produced by the 'help' button.

There are a few improvements that could be made to this help text, typos etc --
please see below.

I find that the buttons do change as recipients are typed into the list but I
don't see any change in background colours. For me, the background is always a
light blue (the basic light blue of Thunderbird). Maybe that is what you call
grey ? I never see a yellow background. Do the colours depend on Windows /
linux implementations ? Or is it just the icon colour which is meant to change
?

In the OpenPGP / preferences/sending tab, I selected 'manual' with 'all keys',
encrypt 'if possible', confirm 'if rules change..'

I only see the plus signs if the recipient is already in my 'per recipient
list'. If I select a recipient whose public key I have but it is not signed by
me, I don't see any + sign. So it doesn't look as if 'auto encryption' will
happen.

If I click on the two icons in the status bar showing + for someone in my 'per
recipient rules' to cancel signing and encryption, the + signs remain but I
thought they should change to minus ? The icons themselves toggle between
yellow and grey.

For recipients for whom I have no rule, clicking on the status bar icons to
permit or cancel signing/encryption doesn't produce a + or - sign.

I expect I have misunderstood something? I presume there is no conflict with
settings elsewhere eg Thunderbird/tools/account settings/OpenPGPSecurity.

Does this whole 'manual' part of Preferences only apply to replies and not to
original message compositions ?

Remarks on the 'help' button text :

1. Convenient Encryption : 2nd para -

"This setup is appropriate, if you just want to improve your privacy by sending
emails encyrpted instead of unencrypted if that's possible. "

typo in first use of 'encrypted'

2. last paragraph of the help dialog :

"If it is important for you that content you send encrypted can't be read by
other people or organizations, you should use the manual preferences at least
choose the option to accept keys only if you or other people signed them. While
this model reduces the risk of using faked keys, it requires that you actively
sign keys and declare owner trust using the key managament dialog."

typo next to last word - 'management'

the middle section might perhaps better read as follows -

'... you should use the manual preferences and at least choose the option to
accept keys only if you or other people have already signed them. ....'

Regards,
Philip
