Thus, I set Thunderbird confirmation OFF and Enigmail confirmation ALWAYS. That is: in Enigmail settings Sending: use manual settings but keep all as they would be in convenient mode except for the confirmation (set to ALWAYS). This way you should notice before sending. I agree that this is somewhat inconvenient ;-) but, well, it's a workaround.
