I'd very much like for this discussion to continue, but I also want some finality to the discussion, too, so that Patrick can have a fixed target to implement (instead of trying to make it match an ever-changing discussion). It's really easy for good discussions to turn into bikeshedding arguments: at some time the points have all been made and a decision needs to be reached. So. Assuming for the moment the power of moderating this discussion -- I think we should aim for, shall we say, October 1 to close this? On October 1 I write up a sense-of-the-list, give it to Nico and Patrick, and then we call it done until/unless someone can come up with new and compelling arguments?
