One should never keep Distro and self-built versions of the same software in locations accessible by the PATH environment. Distro packages can be removed and readded easily by your package manager. Self built versions can either be renamed and/or moved to another directory or deleted and reinstalled by "make install". Ludwig BTW: Please trim your quotes.
