I'm running Linux Mint Debian Edition 2 which is based on Jessie and so
on its repos.

That repo only contains a pretty outdated version of Enigmail, 1.8.2.
Did try to install the standard 1.9.5 add-on from AMO, but that doesn't
work at all (guess the Debian team has made some significant changes to it).

Now I found Enigmail 1.9.5 in the Sid repos and at least the GDebi
Package Manager tells me that it would install without any problems, not
even warnings.

Given the fact that Enigmail 1.9.* doesn't contain any binaries anymore:
Can I go for it or should I not even think about doing that? ;-) (I'm
really not in the mood for a TB/Enigmail recovery)

@Daniel Kahn Gillmor: You're listed at one of the Maintainers on this
page: https://packages.debian.org/sid/enigmail.
Is there any reason why the Jessie repos don't get updated with the
latest Enigmail version?

Thanks in advance & best regards

Markus
