I'm going to spend some time this weekend integrating and testing this patch on a bunch of machines, and I am currently intending on packaging up and releasing an 0.16.6 in the not-so-distant future (I do use 0.16 as my desktop still). I don't think I will spend any time personally working on an imlib2 patch, but if somebody ELSE wants to take the time to work on it, I'm more than welcome to listen and incorporate changes.
