I know, and am not stupid.
I was replying to a message from Dhruba about 16.6-pre5 which I have noticed.
I was also noting that this is also noticable in my other, but default 16.5.

Client behavior wrt stickyness, stacking, etc. may be completely different for e16.5 and e16.6.

I would appreciate that bugs reported in this thread were actually experienced in e16.6-pre5. Anything else is a waste of time!

I don't see any problems with gkrellm.
Now proceeding to look at gaim. I have seen that one doing strange things.
