Hi Kim and others,

Here is my experience so far with E16.6_pre6.

(1) Good: I'm not sure when this happened or how but now the menus are generated immediately as soon as I edit ~/.enlightenment/file.menu without having to restart E. This is excellent and is a welcome change.

(2) Bad: Once again, I'm not sure why this happened but when I minimised a couple of windows I could see them disappearing in an animated fashion off the right hand side of the screen somewhere to the point where they were no longer visible. My iconbox was on the left side of the screen. Now since I don't know how to use eesh I wasn't able to bring them back but just started with a fresh profile and sorted it that way.

(3) So so: Sometimes the window titles in the virtual desktop pagers remain for quite a length of time after you have moved the pointer over them. The difference from before is that the titles now vanish with movement of mouse anywhere rather than just over the virtual desktop pager. This doesn't happen very often but if you continue to switch between VDs which have windows open you're bound to reproduce it.

(4) Neutral comment: I noticed that if you add lots and lots of pictures in ~/.enlightenment/backgrounds/ and then restart E and middle click onto Menu > Desktop > Backgrounds E freezes for a while whilst resource usage shoots up. Initially, I thought something was wrong but I guess it is just creating the menu. No problems here I don't think. Just thought I'd make a mention.

As for the other message about instability, lockups and such things on redhat, everything's been perfectly stable here on Gentoo compiled from source. It must be specific to RPMS.

Once again, excellent work on pre6 and I'm practically jumping out of my seat in my wait for the E16 final and the next release of Eterm!

Many thanks.
