Hello dear raster et al,
I have a small question to ask concerning the Epeg
program:,
In epeg_main.c, there's this line:
-> epeg_quality_set (im, 75);
Just let me know if i understand it correctly! This "75", does it mean
that the new image/thumbmail would have a quality of 75% as compared
to it's original image? Is it some kind of reduction factor?
I notice that when I thumbnail, I get an image quality which is a bit
poor as compared to when I thumbnail with the Imagemagick package.
To have a good quality image do I need to set it to "100" or more? Or is
there something else to set?
Note that I'm not reducing my image not really to a small size
but rather to something like 600x450! (Well not quite a thumbnail!)
You might ask why on Earth I want to reduce to such a figure! Well I wrote
this small program last year called ewebfoto [Nothing to do with the E
project]
which can put a directory (or several directories) of pictures/digital
camera photos on the web. Sort of an image gallery generator. :-)
It saves you the hassle of coding in html if you have something like 100
over pics to put on the web!
The driving engine ewebfoto is the Imagemagick package. Since there's
now Epeg, I intend to replace my Imagemagick package to Epeg so that my
ewebfoto runs faster and would be able to handle more Digi cam
Photos!
With kind regards,
Didier.
