Here is my report on the new cache stuff, but first. On Sun, 25 Sep 2005 20:03:26 -0500 Frederick Reeve <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:

They all show up fine here, except after e17 has crashed and I do a restart, instead of exiting and logging on again. Now, on with the report. Start up with 2129 eaps and no cache file - 14 seconds. It's busy creating the cache file in the background at the moment, so I'll wait until it has finished before timing start up with cache file. Cache file creation is only using about 5 - 10 percent of CPU, but my disk is REAL busy. OK, that was just bad timing, cache creation finished a long time ago, but my locate db rebuild cron job kicked in at the same time, and THAT is what is grinding my disk at the moment and using the CPU. Sorry, no real figures on cache creation time, but I'll delete the cache and time it later. Just realised, to be fair I should wait until locate db rebuild is finished before doing any more timing. I'll send this now, and send proper timings when I have them. Or maybe I'll get some sleep and time things tomorrow. -- Stuff I have no control over could be added after this line.
