I have "new" info here too... (comes up when playing with linux-vserver):

On my Laptop the VServer startup is pushed to the active virtual terminal (in
my case vt7 as I'm starting the vserver from konsole on localhost!!)

This made my X boost at 100% CPU with no more keyboard input. I was looking at
a tool to switch to linux console (did not find) and so restarted X over ssh
from another host.

I think this can be linked to the "X coming up too fast" stuff (e.g. getty
starting when X is already up and in foreground)

Some program here grabs keyboard away from X (probably by changing focus on
virtual terminals) and X does know how to taks it back to even handle this
(100% CPU for X)

Could anyone tell me which program I may use to switch virtual terminal (e.g.
over ssh), a tool which simulates CTRL+ALT+Fx in Xorg would be fine as well.

PS: I should be able to reproduce it at will...

Bruno
