I just tried again for testing if chvt can do anything against this witch...

Result: no

When trying to switch screen goes blank and CPU usage gos down for max 1 
second, then X comes back on top, still without keyboard.

Only way to get keyboard back is to kill Xorg...
Something I have not tested yet is calling chvt from X itself, but I guess it 
will trigger that same behavior. Will test when ending session next time.

Only a tool that tells X to do the equivalent of CTRL+ALT+Fx would eventually 
help...
