OK - I need to pipe up here. Yes - email is good. it's logged and archived and accessible. It has one BIG BIG BIG BIG drawback. It SLOWS DISCUSSION DOWN TO A CRAWL. Tod discuss on email can take days or weeks. To do it on IRC takes minutes or hours. I admit I have been really guilty of this lately. But I guess it's in response to basically having my time so squeezed that It's either discuss on email and NEVER DO ANYTHING or blip on IRC for things I'm uncertain of and otherwise DO as much as I can. Now let's beware of just saying "email is the answer" (and web forums are not an answer either - it's the same as e-mail). Maybe we need to have official IRC logs? Maybe add a #ecode channel whose ONLY purpose is discussion of code, design, direction ideas etc. No help questions - no random discussion. Log it and put that up on-line. If you want to pipe up as part of the discussion - join the channel. People who have been away/asleep can "catch up" by reading the logs. I am NOT saying we get rid of Email or don't use it, but I am trying to find a better way to do this... > beyond that, as my first post to this mailing list, I do want to > commend all the work that has been done so far, it is really quite > impressive; secondly, (and this is a purely selfish request) in what > library / place would you reccommend I start digging.
