Hello! Thank you for developing Enlightenment. It has proven an excellent, versatile, and stable window manager. It has spoiled me for other, lesser environments.
E16 has proven more and more difficult for me to get installed on newer versions of operating systems, especially on 64-bit systems (due to limitations in freetype and freetype2, mostly, not E16 itself), so I recently took the plunge and installed E17. On the most part I am quite pleased with it, but noticed that it lacked the "Multiple Desktops" feature, providing only a 2D array of virtual desktops for managing my workspace. Some searching around led me to the Enlightenment discussion forums on forum.enlightenment.org (where alanm helpfully pointed me in your direction) and sourceforge, where I found this thread in this mailing list's archives: http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_name=b057382e0702010939q126539e0t3b7eca63f2108ac6%40mail.gmail.com ---------------------------------------------- Re: [e-users] E17 - Mulitple Desktops From: Nathan Ingersoll <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> - 2007-02-01 17:39 I believe raster decided to drop multiple desktops for e17. I am very interested in seeing this useful feature returned to Enlightenment. Might I ask why it was removed? Was there a lack of interest in the feature? Did it make additional development more difficult? Was it confusing new users? Knowing the "why" will help me figure out feasible options going forward. I have looked for a CVS log in the cvs snapshots, but did not find any. The e17 CVS module is co'ing while I write this letter, and I am about to look through there for hints. I would appreciate any insight! :-) Respectfully, -- TTK Ciar, Software Engineer ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Splunk Inc.
