there is a very good reason. it is simply not possible in html any other way to
have a ANY width button with ANY content (label) AND have the edges and corners
not be stretched into ugly oblivion.

and so will html. html is far from dead.

well.. i did actually fix it. it works now in ie6 (and i presume ie7). i even
tested it.
