I mean, generally speaking you don't go to configure your E every day - you go a few times to tweak it, make it comfortable for you and then you're just using it. Thats it. Therefore I don't see the need to have the option to remember whether config dialogs should be basic or advanced by default - if you want the advanced stuff - it's a click away.
