precisely. this is the bit where, if needed, we rip stuff out that just isnt ready (imho eina threadsafe stuff), and we stop working on squeezing in ever more things - most ESPECIALLY in api's and in the world of "massive internal redos of code". we beat the appropriate libs into shape for an alpha release. that is less about fixing bugs that it is about getting the api clean and out there with whatever is needed for people to build, install and test. we have a bugtracker. once this alpha is out it's time to seriously be friends with it and fix things people report (that are within the target library list/domain for 1.0.0). not just that but fix things we know about that haven't been reported - fix FIXME's inside the code and XXX's and other unreported bugs waiting to happen. to review code and spot bugs just by reading (there is a limit to how much we can do that). and to maybe produce a few little test apps/suites (we can do this outside of the target libs - much like expedite). once 1 alpha is out, an alpha2 (and beta etc.) are just a "change the tarball name and README content" away and out the door. alpha -> beta is a judgement call of "is this close to almost bug-free/done" vs "theres lots of bugs to squash". > I hate to say it, but I believe one weeks notice is more fair. however alpha > does not mean completed.
