Thanks for the refactoring but you should NOT: 1) break C API. (you confirmed) 2) break signals. (you confirmed) 3) break theme API. Existing theme should work. 4) break any apps which were using multibuttonentry already. There should be no application change. 5) create performance degression. I think you don't need backport for elementary-1.7. This is not a simple bug fix. This is REFACTORING. But you should adopt EO as latest elementary codes do. Can you send your multibuttonentry patch that we can test with? Thanks.
