I disagree. It doesn't encourage that, it just doesn't discourage it as 
much. Package maintainers will build with the widgets, and people who 
know what they are doing and know they need the fat off will use it.

Heck, if you really want, call it 
--disable-elementary-i-really-know-what-i-am-doing-i-dont-like-widgets.
