imagine you are inside a malloc() when ptr has yet to be returned but the libc
malloc impl is busy messing with the heap state to get a piece of memory ready.
REALLY bad. basically you cant use this feature if anything in the thread runs
any code that changes any state... this makes this largely useless. you cannot
even use it to break gethostbyname because this MAY be doing allocations
internally.

this is a bad bad bad idea imho. using it at all is a bad idea for reasons
above, and add to that portability and such an amazing ability to shoot
yourself in the foot when using this... let's just not have it. :)
