Personally given how recently meson was added from a packaging and releasing standard i'd prefer to keep autotools for e22, maybe once its released we can sit down and write / test new procedures for releasing with meson. For example to date no one to my knowledge has used meson to build a tarball and then tested that the contents build and work.
