I tried that download with the fnlib rpm they recommend, still nothing. 
I tried making the symlink as you suggested and, voila, it works.  The
reason I hadn't tried that in the past was I thought Enlightenment was
actually looking for either a file or a symlink to libImlib.so.1, not
so.11.  I suspected that there is some config file somewhere that the
entry for the so.11 file had been cut off on, but after seeing the exact
same thing for both user accounts, I had to come to the conclusion that
something else was broken. 

Now I have another problem.  Now that it's working, most of the menus I
have under a Gnome session seem to be missing, including the one
necessary to change it back to Gnome or to select a different window
manager.  Where in the world did they hide that stuff?  It almost
appears that once you select Enlightenment, they don't want you to
change it to anything else.  Once I get my normal user account back to
normal, I think I'm going to use a test account to play with
Enlightenment until I'm satisfied I can set it up the way I want it.
