Just to follow-up on this subject and mind you, the decision is NOT mine, but from the developer list, it seems that having sounds available in a secondary E package is popular. As I mentioned, the goal is to reduce the size of E's download and the sound files take up something in the 3-4mb range.
There was a mention of re-sampling the sound files too, so depending on how that works, maybe they'll remain.
