basically kde and gnmoe store them in different places - tyhere is a
freedesktop.org standard to unify and that is a massive pain in the arse, and
i'm not sure its even universally used. that is why e17 has no support itself
for these as we'd need to suport a myriad of these systems in all sorts of
places. the idea is to punt the problem off into an importer system like
e17genmenu - but it might not be perfect. the solution is so everyoen who
encounters problem with e17genmenu fixes it for their machine so it doesnt
break on others (ie they add a new location for kde stuff to its logic) and if
it's not parsing things properly - fix the parsing.
