that .desktop file is shipped with e17 and installed in PREFIX/share/xsessions/
already (it may just be that gdm doesnt pick it up
from /usr/local/share/xsessions and only /usr/share/xsessions - just ln -s to
the /usr/local one (so if it changes u get the changes too) and that will work.
