Yeah, a 4'ish gcc is required. However, --enable-visibility-hiding is 
useless without --enable-modules, which is an (experimental) feature to 
build support for certain features (currently sound, imlib2/Xft/Pango 
fonts) as loadable modules, mostly to try and see if this could shave 
some bytes off the memory usage when the feature isn't used.
