I edited my GNOME menu by using Alacarte, e17 was installed some time 
after I did it. For one sub menu I added one entry. The sub menu edited 
with Alacarte seems to be the only menu that e17 didn't adopted 
completely, but e17 adopted the one entry I added, without all the other 
entries.

It seems to be possible to edit the e17 menu by using Alacarte, but 
using Alacarte for the GNOME menu before e17 is installed causes 
trouble. I don't know what will happen if I use KDE4's application and 
what will happen if I use Alacarte for GNOME now. Until now I didn't 
configure my e17.

I recommend to backup /etc/xdg/menus, btw. ~/.e/e/applications/menu is 
empty for my installation.
